JOE THE MAKER

Joe is a self taught potter who began working with clay in 2020. Their work blends traditional techniques with contemporary ideas, driven by having a deep understanding and connection with the medium while exploring its possibilities. Joe draws inspiration from their personal experience as well as the physical and spiritual realms so that each piece tells a story, showcasing the melding of the maker and the material. Collaboration is frequently featured in their practice. Working with friends and fellow artists allows the work to embody these relationships and serves as a powerful tool to subvert the isolating nature of being an artist while fostering greater engagement with people and community.
